Boxing Day With Radios and Candlesticks

This is a photo of my house where I showcase my Mom and Dad’s collection of Japanese and Chinese boxes from the mid 1800s. Also my Zenith table top from 1937 and my Father’s Norwin Teague designed “Blue Bird” radio from late 1930s. Candlesticks from China, middle 1800s.

Boxing Day. Again.

This is a small traveling chest, may be considered a mico-tansu if there is such a thing. It is in extremely good condition and from the early 1800s. Edo Period.

Christmas in Vietnam

Recent acquisition. Vietnamese contemporary. Also our mid-Century furniture lovingly, but clutteringly (if that’s a word), decorated for the season. Vase is a present from a Women’s Pottery conference.

Shirvan Wool Carpet Close Weave

Shirvan is an area sitting just south of the Caucasus range of mountains, between Gendje to the west and the Baku peninsula to the east. Among the most sophisticated carpets created in the Caucasus region, Shirvan area rugs and runners showcase a richness and depth of color not always associated with Turkish rugs, i.e. kilim weaves. Purchased…

Stopendahl Plein Air

With very little formal training, save that from his artistic family of painters, Moose Stoopendaal became one of the finest animal painters Sweden has ever produced. Using the same style and subject matter as Bruno Lilefors, his plein air works display a brush technique that emulates the Master. His work is represented in all the…
